Automated driving - Connected Car
Real-time communication transforms in-car connectivity
Almost every new car has a fully digital display showing the classic round instruments and vehicle data, together with navigation and infotainment. In the Connected Car, the display is the gateway to the networked world as we know it from the smartphone and provides us with information, navigation, safety and infotainment in the car.
Completely virtual cockpit platforms are primarily intended to provide more safety and comfort for the vehicle occupants. For example, the key cockpit function and driver information interact intuitively and are designed to provide an all-encompassing experience. In addition, the systems are increasingly monitoring drivers and passengers to determine whether they are suffering from fatigue, for example.
But it is not only drivers who are interested in the networked car; the industry is also showing great interest. In particular, vehicle maintenance and remote service are becoming increasingly important. For manufacturers of electric cars, the majority of problems can already be solved digitally by remote diagnosis and often also by over-the-air updates.
In the future, the display will be the interface to information and operation for drivers and workshop staff alike. All the information comes together in the Head Display (the dashboard of the future).
